Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This agreement outlines the terms, conditions, insurance information, applicable charges, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle in Southend requires:
- To rent a vehicle, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with potential extra charges for drivers under 25. You need to possess a valid driving licence suitable for your chosen vehicle, held for the duration stated in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of current address are required, along with payment information and a security deposit. Additional requirements specified in the Rental Agreement must also be met.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or in person at our Southend office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and security deposit are generally payable upon vehicle pickup. Prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection in Southend, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be generated and must be signed by both parties. It is expected that the vehicle is returned in the same condition as received, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and applicable charges will be applied. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as when collected; refueling charges will be incurred for lower fuel levels. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount, unless additional coverage is purchased. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will be your responsibility, irrespective of insurance.
6. Cancellations and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ depending on your booking type and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for illegal purposes or activities. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or engaging in any dangerous practices. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should not be used for purposes it was not intended for, nor should passenger or weight limits be exceeded. Additionally, driving outside the agreed geographical limits without prior permission is not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Southend will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits or data, resulting from your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claims will not exceed the total amount you paid for rentals in the past year. This limitation does not apply to cases involving negligence leading to death or personal injury, or instances of fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved exclusively within the jurisdiction of the relevant courts.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to amend these Terms at any time. Updates take effect immediately upon publication on our website. Continued use of our services implies acceptance of the revised Terms.
